With rising gas prices, spreading consumer awareness is key to keep competition rife so that we the customers can harvest the benefits of consumer capitalist competition at a much better rate.

Utility bills are one of the best ways for anyone to save great amount of money over long periods of time.

Making an online comparison gives you the ability to choose from a large selection of gas companies, according to your own wants, address, and other factors. There are more gas companies than you realise and finding the best deal has been made easy by gas comparison websites.

Many of my readers can remember how hard it was to shop around for the best gas deal before the internet, it was literally impossible and many people didn't even bother. Nowadays, the internet provides us with a valuable opportunity to get the best gas rates.

Online Gas Rates Are Cheaper !

Yes, only managing your gas online will save you money. So not only are you saving on getting the best rate, your saving on using the service.  You'll also receive your bills online rather than by post, saving the planet in the process. Ah, internet how beautiful are thee?!

Now, How Do I Get the Cheapest Gas?

Your gas rate depend on various factors such as your address, and usage. The more you use the cheaper the rate gets, you can't do much about your location.

There are two basic types of energy tariffs: tracker (or variable) and fixed. Trackers move with the price of the market, so if you think prices are likely to go down, this is the one for you. However, given the recent upward trend you could be forgiven for thinking that a fixed tarrif might be a safer option, and most forecasts say that gas the tariff will continue to rise for decades to come, a reduction is unlikely in the near future.

However, fixed energy contracts can lack flexibility and opting out of them would require you to pay a cancellation fee.

A middle way could be a discounted bill or one with a price promise that either gives you a discount on a particular tariff or caps the amount you will pay. This would allow you to take advantage of any price decreases, while also being able to budget safe in the knowledge that your costs should not rise beyond a certain point
.

Finally, keep an eye on the prices they're always shifting and changing, whenever you see a better deal don't hesitate to switch, it can turn out cheaper over longer periods of time,  even if you had to pay crenelation fees.
